Rod Stewart has recorded a series of specific jingles for a new online radio station dedicated to the star ahead of his appearance at Pairc Uí Chaoimh at the end of May.
Radio Rod is live as part of the C103 website and is also on the station’s apps for online listening.
He certainly has enough of a back catalogue to justify the solo status.
“Rod kicks off a great summer of live music in Cork on May 25th said C103 Content Controller Brendan O’Driscoll speaking to the Irish Examiner newspaper.
“He is an artist who has stood the test of time and is a great fit for C103. We took the decision it was only right to give him his own station.
It’s an example of the flexibility which digital media offers to get very specific and very niche around major events. The idea of getting a separate license and the space to broadcast something similar on FM would never have been possible for such a short window.
