The latest JNLR/Ipsos MRBI report into radio listening was published today with pretty much every station climing them as a vctory.

Today’s figures cover the 12-month period from January to December 2018 and the figures are incredibly strong.

More than 3.17 million listeners (15+) tune into radio every weekday – that is daily radio listening at 83% of all adults.

The sample size for the poll is large at just under 17,000 so the figures are solid and will form the basis of many of the advertising and sponsorship packages that take shape over the coming months.

Every age category has a higher than 75 per cent listenership figure and RTÉ Radio 1 retains it’s top position with a national listenership of 30.9 per cent.  Today FM and Newstalk both saw small rises in their number at national level, to 7.4 and 6.9 per cent respectively.

Local radio continues to perform strongly in the local radio markets across the country, in many areas reaching more than 40 per cent of the local adult population daily.

As a nation we listen to an average of 230 minutes of radio every day, a figure that rises to 254 minutes a day for those over the age of 35.
