The main bulk of tickets for the Electric Picnic 2019 went on sale this morning and were all snapped up within 15 minutes.

It’s a remarkable testament to the Festival which has yet to unveil a single act but which clearly has sufficient credit with its fans that they want to be there regardless.

The 2019 Picnic will take place over the weekend of August 30th to September 1st and will clash on the Sunday for one last time with the All Ireland Football Final.

This year the attendance will rise by 2,500 to 57,500 but still, that was not enough to come anywhere near to satisfying demand.

Early bird tickets went on sale in September and sold out in equally quick time.

It means that fans who missed out this morning will be reliant on competitions or on a limited number that will also be distributed to customers of Three and Electric Ireland among the event sponsors.

There are also 1,000 tickets available for those who sign up to cycle from Dublin to Stradbally as part of the Tour de Picnic. Last year they raised over €500,000 for nominated charities the Jack and Jill Foundation, the ISPCC and Headway.

A total of just under 100 tickets were being offered this evening on secondary ticketing site Viagogo with prices starting at around €370 for a weekend ticket without camping.
