Each of the Oscar Nominees attending Sunday’s gala event in Los Angeles will have left the Dolby Theatre clutching a goody bag worth almost €150,000.
Or they would have had it not already been delivered for them to enjoy in advance of the big night.
Maybe that’s just in case they forgot it in the excitement, or maybe it’s more to do with the fact that it has nothing actually to do with the Academy.
The bags are collated and produced by a company called Distinctive Assets and they’ve been doing it now for 17 years.
Each of the companies looking to get the ultimate product placement in the hands or on the shoulders of an Oscar nominee pay Distinctive Assets something in the region of $4,000 to be part of the pack, as well as the value of what they are offering.
All it needs is one picture of a product in hand and that will be money very well spent.
This year’s collection is estimated to be worth around $150,000 and includes luxury cruises to a choice of destinations ranging from Iceland to the Galapagos Islands.
There are therapy sessions, club memberships, high protein pretzel bars, jewellery, bags and a copy of the ‘Beauty Book for Brain Cancer’, just in case.
In total there are almost 50 products that have been sent to each of the nominees, making it a lucrative gig for Distinctive Assets.
And it’s just one of the multiple awards season bags they produce. Wonder if they’ll be coming to the IFTA’s this year…
