Each Friday we select five events or activities that might attract you over the weekend, together with one little item relating to the business behind them.

May 24th to 26th

At the Movies

Rocketman is the big opening movie of the weekend and has got strong reviews across the board.

It has a Rotten Tomato Score of 88%, a good 50% better than Aladdin which is the other major release of the weekend.

Bohemian Rhapsody took in $700 Million at the Box Office making it one of the Top ten movies of 2018.

It’s the hottest ticket of the weekend and the biggest gig of the summer so far. Spice up your life by getting to Croke Park tonight and relive history.

We’ll be chatting to the management at Croke Park in June about putting on the biggest gigs of the years.

At The Theatre

Foil, Arms & Hog have their Craicling show at Vicar Street tonight. This current show only runs to June 21st so if you’ve not caught it yet you are running out of time.

The new show from the lads, Swine, will debut in August as part of the Edinburgh Fringe.

Staying In

If you’ve withdrawal symptoms from Game of Thrones then Gold on Virgin Media One tonight at 10 pm might be of interest. It stars Maisie Williams, who played Arya Stark and also has James Nesbitt which is generally a winner.

The International Literature Festival is on in Dublin with all sorts of bookish goodies to tempt. The Insiders Guide to getting Published could be your first step towards getting on the programme yourself in years to come. It costs €65 and it’s on tomorrow at Smock Alley Theatre.
