Each Friday we select five events or activities that might attract you over the weekend, together with one little item relating to the business behind them.

May 24th to 26th

At the Movies

It’s the summer so you know it’s going to be a blockbuster weekend and this time around it’s Godzilla.  He’s the King of the Monster so we are told.  The audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes is a massive 91 per cent, though it’s not been so well received by the critics.

If you want smart, the consensus is that Booksmart is a winner.

Music

Elbow and Fontaines DC at Forbidden Fruit on Monday.  Deacon Blue, Madness and Primal Scream in Dun Laoghaire through the weekend.  Even the soundtrack to The Greatest Showman on at the 3Arena.  You can’t say there’s not a good choice.

At The Theatre

Amelie is the stage rendition of the popular movie.  It’s on the Irish stage for the first time after a successful run on Broadway and it’s on Friday and Saturday night.

Staying In

It’s one of the biggest shows on British TV and the final of Britain’s Got Talent has an Irish finalist.  Pure Saturday night TV.

Festival

Forbidden Fruit has great music, a big wheel and lots more going on around the grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.  And there are still tickets available.
