Over 4,000 moviegoers are expected to attend the 18th annual Irish Film Festival in Boston between March 22 and 25th.
Voted one of the Top Twenty Coolest Film Festivals in the World by MovieMaker magazine some years ago this year’s Festival programme has been announced and includes over 30 films, documentaries and shorts, all with an Irish twist.
Oscar-nominated The Breadwinner will be shown alongside Kissing Candice which will open the festival and Noel Hill: Broken Dream which will close it.
This year’s festival is being held in its entirety at the Somerville Theatre which has been showing movies since it was originally opened 104 years ago.
There are lessons to be learned from the Festival for events back home with no fewer than 44 entities thanks as sponsors ranging from Culture Ireland as a Premiere Sponsor, through to insurance and real estate agencies, Aer Lingus, Kerrygold and Primark among the in-kind sponsors and plenty more.
There is also much to be gained from examining the imagination that has gone into ticket packages including an Awards Winners Package offering $45 worth of tickets to five Award-winning movies for a price of €30.
Entertainment for Business will be on the ground next week reporting on the Irish presence at SXSW, South by South West, one of the biggest entertainment industry events in the world.
