It’s the biggest Festival of the year and it shows no sign of slowing down.
Tickets for the 2020 Electric Picnic went on sale on Saturday morning and within an hour the first wave of early bird tickets were completely sold out.
All of the loyalty tickets with a discount based on those who had been before; the early bird tickets priced at €210 for a weekend camping ticket; the campervan and the family camping tickets were all gone.
Not a single act has yet been even hinted at for next years Festival but in terms of the experience for Festival goer’s, and those they rave about it to when they emerge from the Laois countryside, they bank on them being the best available and it is the fact of being there that matters most.
“Fans of Electric Picnic are a very loyal bunch and with it being a sold out festival this year, fans were even more eager than usual to snap up tickets,” said Festival director Melvin Benn.
“Ticket sales at the early bird rate were due to run to the 29th september but actually lasted less than 60 minutes.
“The Picnic continues to grow and so too does the number of loyal Picnickers that want to come back year after year.”
The next wave of tickets will go on sale later in the year but no date has yet been confirmed.
Last year the final batch of tickets were all gone in the first week of December, again within an hour of being released.
The first announcment of who will likely be headlining at Picnic 2020 is not expected until the New Year.
In the long term the organisers have a ten year arrangement with the owners of Stradbally Hall so this is one that will run and run.
