Cork Opera House has published its Spring and Summer programme which includes four classic Opera’s but plenty more from across the entertainment spectrum as well.
The Marriage of Figaro, Tosca, The Pirates of Penzance and Madam Butterfly will all be performed with the last named of those being staged by the Irish National Opera in April
Blood Brothers will return for the first time in eight years for a summer run taking in most of August and there will also be theatrical performances of On Blueberry Hill from Fishamble and Wet Paint, a show created by Shane Casey who Cork audiences will identify as having played Billy Murphy in the Young Offenders.
Gavin James, Bagatelle and Mike Denver are among the music acts that will perform while there is plenty more comedy in store including from Foil, Arms and Hog, Ardal O’Hanlon and Mario Rosenstock.
Speaking today to the Irish Examiner, acting CEO of Cork Opera House Ashley Keating said that “Cork is a city with a thriving arts and culture scene and we are delighted to be part f that great community.”
“We’ll be working with Cork Midsummer Festival again this year bringing the city to life in inspiring ways during the summer.
