Liam Gallagher and Lauryn Hill have been added to what is lining up to be one of the hottest tickets of the summer at Irish Independent Park in Cork.

The venue has not been known as a major venue but MCD have stepped in to book six consecutive nights of heavyweight action from June 20 to June 26.

George Ezra will open up proceedings, followed by Walking on Cars, then a double bill of Sigrid and the Coronas, Gallagher, Hozier and Hill.

Versatile have already sold out Live at the Marquee going head to head with Walking on Cars while Gallagher will be competing with Kris Kristofferson at the same venue.

It was also announced today that Live at The Marquee will host three of the world’s biggest DJs – Gorgon City, Sonny Fodera and Duke Dumont in One Day taking place against The Coronas on June 22nd.

The Series of concerts at the Rugby ground will take place four weeks after Rod Stewart plays at Pairc Uí Chaoimh, the venue where Gallagher last played in the city as part of Oasis in 1996.

That’s a lot going on in Rebel Country in a condensed period of time but we hope there will be an appetite for what is a very impressive line-up.

The Rugby season will be on a break and Irish Independent park now has an artificial pitch to accommodate as many as 200 matches during the course of the year.

In a quirk of sponsorship, the story announcing details of the concerts in Cork’s premier newspaper the Irish Examiner refers to the venue by its previous title of Musgrave Park. Tut, tut!
